Karaka Millions 2024 - Analysis by HorseTorque NZ

The best on course, raceday experience is the Karaka Millions at Ellerslie and after track renovations, it’s super to be back!

For those unfamiliar it’s a 6-race twilight card with huge prizemoney for connections and an incredible atmosphere.

The ethos of HorseTorque is to use speed figures and sectionals to analyse the chances of horses in a race and to use rated prices to bet odds ‘at overs’ for profit!

Here’s a quick and free summation of the Karaka Million meeting:

R1: CROCETTI is rated 1.5 but is unbackable odds. STAR OF JUSTICE and JUST A FLOOZIE are worth small specks (either place or 1 x 3 or 4 ratio)

R2: The Te Akau horses hold a strong hand here and whilst MAVEN BELLE is rated a 3.7f with me, ROMANCING THE MOON and PETRUCCI appeal at their prices.

R3: LA CRIQUE is my best of the card. FASHION SHOOT is a great include for those playing exotics.

R4: VELOCIOUS is a worthy favourite and a bet with FULL FORCE value at an excellent each-way price. He’s worked well in blinkers and the draw might be a blessing not a curse.

R5: LEGARTO is rated 1.9 with me and might deserve to be shorter. I won’t be opposing her even though I’m not quite at the price to back her.

R6: MOLLY BLOOM is rated 2.8 and a fair favourite. She is all class and could show something special. Remember, her saddle slipped last time, so in some respects she had no right to win!
