Randwick Review 21/9

Import Eliyass outstanding again with 116/121

R2 saw our luxury top pick Gold Miner Perennial win after being $6 into $3.30, I had him 95 going in and got 98/89, even better we dodged the fav. Tickleberry Sr 97 and Tai Lung 94

R3 we dodged the over bet Fav Bear On The  Loose whose 90/82 was most disappointing, those that Dutch the value didnt worry with the $11.60 rated Floating winning at $17 96/93 was a solid effort and he will only be better suited stripping fitter over further next time out. Galeron 88/89 is the only other notable.

R4 saw lightly raced 4yo top pick Well Timed go to a whole new level, this was only start 11 and he had a best of SR103. 111/106 here in a soft 1 length win gets him an upgrade. The eye catcher was runner up Sharp Shock home 22.4 clearly best home, hard to find, did have a best 102/104 and a 95/86 and was clearly under rated, 107/106 ensures that won't happen again. Ticks for Thunderlips Sr 106.  Congregation XR99 and Cheerful Legend also XR99

R5 The G3 Kingston Town was a huge result with $2.20 rated 111 horse Eliyass holding off the fav we dodged.  He was off 117/118 and we got 116/121 here ina huge win. My mind goes straight to Just Fine who popped this time last year after 2 huge peaks. The Fav 4yo Ceolwulf was outstanding and the penny really has dropped, XR 2nd up was 104 +11 here 114/125 home 22.1 at the end of 2000m. He ran 2nd in the Derby and has Caulfield Cup written all over him., $15 in early markets! It was another top 4 trifecta in a Black type race when confirmed XR 110 horse Golden Path ran 3rd rating 107/113. Serpentine XR 107 and Zardozi XR 106 both get ticks.

HTF Eliyass and Ceolwulf

R6 saw the $26 winner very hard to find, triple confirmed 89 horse after 11 starts and he comes out with 106/102. This is why St Thomas said to Jesus "the punt?! that will never catch on' He beats some high performing genuine Black type Again I lay one and get a little lucky, the money just kept coming for runner up Gringotts XR 102 franked by XR 104 last time in getting him an upgrade. Tom Kitten with 94/92 after 98/102 1st up. Perhaps just 2nd up syndrome Amenable 93/90 was disappointing Freedom Rally 84/77 worse and Scarlet Oak amiss with 60/51

HTF Gringotts

We thought there were only 3 chances in the G2 Tea Rose and it was unbeaten top pick Autumn Glow who was dominant here, 99/104 suggests ready for further and will be fav in whatever she contests. Runner Up Snow In May was also 2 for 2 and she just relished the 1400m with 94/103. She is quality and they will probably follow the same path, her closing splits superior to Manaal's 94/98. Lazzura, More Territories and Ernos Cube all get ticks.

The numbers just dont tell the tale of how good Fangirl was picking +up $680K for winning the 7 stakes, settled at the tail home 21/7  but that was just 94/103, so we really are just taking the +11 from here. How did $31 My Oberon a drum, well he only had to rate 93/98. Royal Patronage  91/96 was very lacklustre after big Aussie debut win.

I had 108 horse I Am Me clearly on top after 114/113 in a big 1st up win and has followed that with 119/110 here. She is low flying and a threat in anything she contest. Steffi Magnetica had rated 114/111 in winning the G1 Stradbroke to end last campaign. Only had 50kg that day and although an overlay placing I should of at least given her the 105 off that G1 runners up cheque back in march She was home 21.9 for 118/114. I cant wait to see where she goes this Spring. The race has probably rated a bit high as Dragonstone 116  Mazu 116  Mumbai Muse 114 we know well and thats high for all of those. . Andrew Beyer wrote about races like this and makes a fair point , he thinks some horses just get sucked along but the winners time. Either way its going to be a high rating race going forward. Aft cabin was awful with 97/90

HTF Steffi Magnetica

We ended the day with another top pick in Moravia as Jmac made it 4 for the day I predicted 95 off 98/101 last time out, interestingly 98/101 was a 9th placing behind I Am Me, which puts a nicer stamp on that form line. 100/95 here  was just a little better than expected ina pretty dominant win. Dalataat was eye catching home in 21.9 91/94 after an Xr 96 the run prior. There is a race for her soon.

We head to Rosehill for the G1 Golden Rose, the G2 Shannon and the G2 Gold Pendent
Its a busy week with Manikato night on Friday night, Sandown Stakes  on Grand Final day, we also have Shatin Saturday and Ansett Stakes Day at Mornington
