Geriatrix and Oughton with some numbers to beat at Eagle Farm on Saturday!

On a Group 1 card of racing at Eagle Farm where a lot of New Zealand interest will centre around I WISH I WIN in the Kingsford Smith and Andrew Forsman’s FIRST INNINGS and MOONLIGHT MAGIC in the Queensland Derby, it’s the second race that presents a Kiwi horse at cracking betting value.

GERIATRIX competes in a BM78 for Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott (Molly Bloom) after winning for HorseTorque NZ followers at Arawa Park before his departure. He delivered an 89/85, an excellent figure for this race, and the three-year-old has won twice over 1400m. He is a “get back, run on” type of horse, but Mick Dee is the perfect foil for him, and he looks a super each-way outlay.

An ex-Victorian-cum-Hong Kong-trained horse shapes as another very interesting proposition in the same race. OUGHTON raced as “A PAL” for Frankie Lor in the SAR and won two Class 3 races for him, which was after winning his maiden at Sandown (Australia). In HK he put up some super numbers, as Gavin would say, “he’s a triple confirmed 104 galloper there”, so even though he won’t be at that level now, following a handy win at Warwick last start for current trainer Melissa Kelly, he should have some scope to improve again closer to peak.

GERIATRIX and OUGHTON are pegged at 91 (rated $6.60) & 90 (rated $9.30) respectively in a competitive race with each good early shopping across the corps!

Check out all Gav’s analysis for Eagle Farm and across Australia, with HorseTorque firing on all cylinders tomorrow in New Zealand as well! HorseTorque delivers no nonsense speed figures normalised across all tracks in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong.

The HorseTorque NZ value (or "overs") horses for Saturday:

Pukekohe Race 5: 2 WESSEX (rated $3.40)

Whanganui Race 6: 5 LOCH KATRINE (rated $3.30)
