HK back with a bang
Ka Ying Rising made it 6 from 8 with 107/113 on a big first day back
We hit the ground running with our $ 2.90 top pick Go Go Go winning after coming into $2.8 in the last few minutes, the key was my first Strategy of the season was a 1 x 3 play on the David Hayes trained Gold Miner Sunny Baby who ran the best closing splits in the race. He had found the podium in all 3 first up runs and ran 2nd at a tasty $6 the place. An 87 horse and we got XR 88. I had predicted 87 for this race and got 84/84, The 3rd placed Joyful Prosperity with that XR 86 +7 i the only other runner I would take from this C5. ZP picked up wher ehe left off.
The 2nd was another C5 and I predicted 83 here and we got 84/82 on the winner Same To You with top pick Sports Elite running 3rd. Runner Up Ho Ho Star was the Black Booker home .6 of a second faster than anyone else his XR 87 was 6 better than the winner, He is ready to blossom as a 5yo and that XR 87 is franked by XR 89 3 back. There is a C5 waiting for him. The winner was only having start 10 and did have an XR 95 +16 3 back suggesting the penny was dropping but 84/82 was darly world shifting.
R3 was a nice strong C1 which i suggested we all stay out of but all eyes were on the the progressive 104 horse Ka Ying Rising was smashed in betting. He hadnt missed Quinella in 7 winning 5 times. He ended last season with XR's of 109 and 111 but the highest weight carried in those was 54kg. He has come out under 61kg here and rated 107/113 home in 21.9!!. This guy is a serious sprinter and is a 4yo with plenty of upside yet. We can follow him with confidence. We had the Exacta in order with fellow 104 Beauty Waves and his 2nd was 102/108 suggesting he is also pretty darn good. 3rd was 3 lengths off the winner in a race where the ratings held beautifully.
R4 was a C4 and ZP made it 3 from 4 virtually ending the Premiership already. That was was top pick and 94 horse Fast Network whom we rated $1.90. he was $2.10 to $1.8 on race day I was pretty friendly with the rating of the winner up 3.5kg off a neg split run with his 91/89 being more in line with where my thoughts as to where this guy is. He was dominant however with his XR 14 better than runner up . He is the only one you would be taking out of this.
R5 saw another top pick with the $2.20 rated My Wish going right on with his 94/93 when 2nd to end last season. I gave him 92 and we got 89/92. Sometimes these ratings just flow together.. I predicted 86 for the runner up Super Legend and we got Xr 85 he was 2 lengths off winner and 2 ahead of 3rd.
The first upset of the day was with 5yo Amazing Fun in R6 after 14 starts he was an 82 horse at best and somehow produces 88/97, history suggests he bounces to the moon next time out. he nosed out 89 horse and ZP ridden top pick Fighting Machine whose 88/93 was right where we expected. They had 3 lengths on 3rd who rated 78/77 so they are the only 2 to take from this. these are the sort of races that make it gambling not winning. GODS stable I like to call them.
We were back to winning ways with the $4.5 rated Chui Chow Spirit rated at $4.50 winning the first eg of the Quaddie at 45.80 I ony gave him 97 despite coming off Xr 112 to end last season. His 95/104 more lovely progression. We can follow him with confidence It was a top 4 all value Trifecta with Superb Boy 88/93 and Karma 83/95 both strong through line and another tick for the form lines. I suppose its been over 10 years of doing HK form but I certainly dont find the season break as daunting as I once did.
I said to a client the other day we were due a long priced Gold Miner and here we got the $9.80 rated Harmony N Home winning for Gold Miners at a staggering $56. Sure he had a few C4 convictions but was triple confirmed XR 91 last season and was dropping 5.5kg into this. All of a sudden the Quaddie was looking real good with his 85/97 Runner Up Solid Win was only making 2nd trip to the races and had made nice progress with XR's of 86 and 87. 83/92 here was another step in the right direction. Our top pick Ballistic Win was unlucky and rated 81/97. We will be with him next time.
I had 6 runners rated under $13 and the filled the trifecta., winner Super Fortune rated a career high 103/100. Runner Up Harold Win who had XR's of 91 and 93 in his debut campaign took another step forward with 102/100 whilst 4yo Geneva at only 5th trip to the races also went to a new peak resuming with 100/104. our 1 x 3 Gold Miner Yuen Long Elite was 5th with 84/88
We rounded out a big first day with the $4.30 rated Gorgeous Win rewarding our patience ith a big win, he was $8.5 to $5.50 on the day and franked his XR's of 105 and 106 last time in with 100/101. I know a few subs got a litle piece of that $13K Quaddie. Even better he beat the bad value top pick Glory Elite who was a little disappointing with 96/94 after ending last season with back to back Xr 98's It was another top 4 trifecta with value Captain Win 3rd and good with 95/99. there was plenty of depth here and there are another for with Xr's in the mid 90's that get a pass mark
It really was a great start and onto happy Valley Weds nightIt really was a great start and onto happy Valley Weds night
