The Victress Eyes Canterbury Belle Stakes Triumph

THE VICTRESS heads into the Canterbury Belle Stakes at Riccarton off an impressive 1000m win, where she rated 81/87 with HorseTorque NZ. Trained by Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson of Te Akau Racing, she’ll step up to 1200m, guided by New Zealand’s top jockey, Opie Bosson—a combination that demands attention.

Her main threat is DIABLO BLANCO, fresh from two consecutive wins over the distance but on the Riccarton synthetic. But the race gets more competitive with Te Akau fielding two other fillies, ABOUT LAST NIGHT and DREAM OF THE MOON, both capable of causing an upset.

The key to THE VICTRESS’ success will be her ability to carry that early speed through the extra 200m. Bosson’s experience could be pivotal in pacing her run just right. If she can maintain her strength late, The Victress may well reign supreme in what promises to be a tightly contested race.
