Is Aberlour Worth a Nip at Randwick?
In Race 4 at Randwick on Saturday, ABERLOUR is set to compete for Australian-trainer, Joseph Pride and certainly looks worthy of each-way consideration.
She was purchased by Pride’s clients out of Kelvin Tyler’s barn in Riverton (the southern-most stables of New Zealand) and has had a rather inauspicious start to her Australian career, but looks far better placed in a BM78 over 1400m.
Her run 13-days ago over 1100m in Listed company was better than it looked (85/90) and it’s worth noting her peak NZ HorseTorque figures of 104 & 110 came over 1335m & 1600m respectively.
She has a horrible barrier, but she has scope to improve sharply for the master trainer and shapes as a clear 1 x 3 outlay at her price given Gav’s assessment of the race.
In New Zealand on Saturday the best racing takes place at Te Rapa, Hamilton where there are three Group races with SNAZZYTAVI lining up in the G2 Cal Isuzu Stakes over 1600m. She has bigger G1 targets in mind over the summer, but I expect her to maintain her unbeaten track record against mares that she looks a class above, even CAMPIONESSA!
