About Horsetorque

Established in 2005, Horsetorque is the brainchild of former Best Bets and Radio 4TAB form analyst Gavin Haynes.

Gavin and his team have been providing professional thoroughbred racing form services based on his exclusive Speed, Weight and Sectional ratings for 15 years specialising in Australian and Hong Kong markets with his new New Zealand speed ratings coming online in December 2020

Our clients are generally intelligent individuals with a good base knowledge of the punting game who want to give themselves an edge over other punters and corporate bookmakers. We focus on delivering the most accurate betting markets for Sydney and Melbourne Metropolitan meetings on Saturday as well as for the Premier race days in Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Hong Kong and starting with the first Premier meetings in New Zealand commencing September 2021.

Over the last 30 years we have built a massive database of results from well over 100 tracks which we use to create ratings that reflect in numerical form a horses race time (speed rating), its last 400m times (sectional rating), plus a traditional handicappers rating based on the class of race (weight rating) plus an indicator of a horses ability to quicken (TOF or turn of foot rating).

With all this amazing data we create state of the art betting markets by using highly complex proprietary algorithms taking into account important additional factors such as barrier, trip, distance, jockey, trainer and weight fluctuations. Combine these ratings with Gavins' 35+ years of punting wisdom and the result is highly accurate market pricing and assessments, which we deliver to our clients.

We do all the hard work and give our clients access to detailed market assessments that point straight at the value. Our clients have access to their own personal form analyst as well as a large arsenal of online tools designed to help them with all aspects of research.

Features

The Core of Horsetorque

Gavin provides his full analysis for 150+ meetings a year concentrating on Melbourne and Sydney Saturday metro meetings , Black type racing from Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide during their carnivals, 10 premier race days from Sha Tin and 35 premier meetings from New Zealand.

These meetings come with full market assessment, expert comment and betting strategy. This online form guide also comes with all the base stats you would expect plus each horses last 13 months worth of form with Speed, Weight and Sectional ratings* so you can also delve into the form yourself.

Marvin Guides

Marvin is the pet name we have for our computer program that creates a base rating for each horse based on past performance before we take into account the many variables such as current form, distance, jockey, distance, going etc.

At the request of many of our long term clients who wanted my ratings for everything possible so we started putting these meetings up with markets based on that base rating creating a great starting point for all the meetings Gavin doesn't do personally, so you you have great access to every TAB meeting each week, generally some 40+ meetings a week.

Horsetorque Lite

Every client with an active subscription will receive what we call Horsetorue LITE via email for Saturday race day. This guide is sorted by race order across all the meetings covered and from shortest rated price to longest, making access to everything you need oh so simple. It comes in a simple printable PDF version of the form guide for quick easy access to the markets and comment sent Friday nights and again Saturday mornings but including any key money moves that need attention drawn to them in the Saturday edition.

Horse Search

Clients can search our extensive database for the history behind any horse we have ever provided form for. A great tool for those who want to put the white lab coat on and deep dive into historical data.

Bookmaker and Price fluctuations

We compare the major corporate bookmakers and give our clients information about the best price available and which bookmaker to go with plus a horses starting price, highest price, lowest price and current price

Speed Maps

Colour speed maps are also provided to help you see the likely settling position of each horse to help you determine what type of run in transit each horse should get.

"What a difference!" - AK

Hi Gavin, I have been a long time customer but a 'grazer' of the now defunct Lite membership.

With the new membership structure you now see all of the information and as the new site has a ready packaged Lite report, I started immersing myself in the detail. What a difference!

I know it sounds obvious now, but the old lite membership didn't give you the ability to spot a bounce horse, or look for ratings of horses resuming in winter (as opposed to summer spells).

Whilst I didn't get a big collect this weekend, I had 3 legs of most of the Quaddies and the horses I had rated top were always in the photo. Ultimately I can be a bit lazy and use Lite to score the occasional big collect, but the lesson of last weekend is that it's better to spend an hour running through the Horsetorque stats and making informed decisions then watching 'Get On' each week.

Keep up the great work. The new changes are brilliant.
Regards AK

Meet the Team

Meet Gavin Haynes, Professional Form Analyst.

Gavin started his lifelong affair with horse racing nearly 40 years ago when he was just 18 years old and if anything his passion and love for the game is growing

Since that time his inner scientist has been constantly searching for new ways to express a horses' past performance. From the creation of Speed Ratings, Sectional ratings right through to the recent Turn Of Foot rating, anything that helps with past performance analysis

Before starting Horsetorque in 2005 Gavin was working as the senior NSW form analyst for Best Bets, he did radio 4 to 5 times per week which aired on 4TAB in QLD and was a regular writer for Practical Punting Monthly.

There isn't much that Gavin hasn't seen or done in the punting game. He has lived off it professionally in the past. These days however he bets for the pure enjoyment of it and his experience and knowledge of staking, money management and the psychology of gambling will all aid in helping you become a more complete punter
